Freshly Made Sketches#14 - Mixed Bunch with Paper Doily

When thinking of a sketch, I went over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog for my inspiration of today's card. Sketch designed by Jennifer Timko, week#14. The design team created some beautiful cards for inspiration based on this sketch that got me going. Easy to join, click here to go directly to the challenge.

Decided to start with a color I don't normally use, Rich Razzleberry but now I don't know why I haven't used before since it's such a pretty color and works so beautifully with this DSP paper called Flirtatious Specialty.

For the middle, I used a 2" circle in Old Olive as my base on top of the new large Sizzlits Paper Doily Die that will be available starting Jan 4th when the customer sales period begins for the new Occasions Mini Catalog along with the stamp set called Mixed Bunch. I couldn't resist but to use both of these together for this card.

Here is a close up of the paper doily that I cut out with black cardstock and later added basic pearls around the entire doily to add some color to the black and as an accent to the overall card.

Stampin dimensionals were used to pop up the flower in the center and used dazzling details for the glitter on top of the flower. Card measures 5 x 5 inches. Hope you enjoy!!

Mojo Monday 218 - Sketch Challenge - Sneak Peak Mixed Bunch

Once again, it's another weekly challenge at Mojo Monday , sketch designed by Julee Tilman, MOJO218. This week it's the start of a new month and it's Mojo Madness Contest where they will select 1 winner for every 50 entries to win some beautiful Verse Stamps. Easy to join, click here to go directly to the challenge. Here is my card below.

 

For this card, I got to play with some new products that arrived earlier this week. One of which is this beautiful new DSP called, Twitterpated along with the stamp set called Mixed Bunch that will be available starting Jan 4th when the customer sales period begins for the new Occasions Mini Catalog.

I love these colors and was able to use the 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon in Island Indigo which matched up very nicely with the Baja Breeze cardstock. Added a couple of basic pearls at the bottom for more embellishment.

Here is a close up of the upper left hand side. I started with an Oval in Island Indigo as my base and than used Pear Pizzazz for the middle. Hint....Hint....new punch. Last but not least, punched out this beautiful flower in Riding Hood Red ink. I did use stampin dimensionals to pop up the flower to give it a 3-D look and 1 large basic pearl for accent.

PPA122 - Celebrity Color Challenge - A Dahlia Flower with Frostwood Lodge

This week the Pals Paper Arts is having a color challenge, PPA122 along with celebrity guest, Angela McKay, who is the guest artist of the week. The design team also has come up with some great looking cards to get everyone started on this color challenge of Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, and Very Vanilla. To join, you can click here and go directly to the challenge.

I will say that this was quite the challenge for me since I don't normally work with this color combination alot, but the DSP, Frostwood Lodge from the Holiday Mini Catalog came in very handy for this week's challenge to get me started.

I started this card with the embossing folder, Framed Tulips and than used Always Artichoke ink and the brayer to add the color to it which shows off the impression more, which is pictured above.

Next, I cut another piece of Very Vanilla (4 3/8" x 3 1/8") and ran it through the embossing folder called Stripes and placed in the middle of the frame. Hopefully you can see the impression on this close up picture.

Next, I added DSP Frostwood Lodge (4 3/8" x 1 1/8") along with cutting 2 strips of Cherry Cobbler cut with the scallop trim border punch for the middle before working on the Dahlia flower in the middle.

For the Dahlia flower, I used the 1 1/4" circle punch and cut out 8 circles and started to fold each one up before putting them together. Than used the Boho Blossom punch for the center along with a basic pearl. Added stampin dimensionals to the bottom of the flower before putting on top of the card. Below is the finished look. Hope you Enjoy!!

Mojo Monday 217 - Posy Punch with Leter It and Mocha Morning Specialty

Once again, it's another weekly challenge at Mojo Monday , sketch designed by Julee Tilman, MOJO217. The important thing is to have fun! Easy to join, click here to go directly to the challenge. This week it's a pick of round or square. Here is my card below.

This was a fun card to make, especially with this DSP paper. I cut a black scallop circle using the Scallop BigZ Die and put that on top of a 4 1/2" circle card to get me started. Than, I cut a 3 3/4" circle in Very Vanilla and 3 1/2" circle with the DSP paper. 

Added this cute button from my stash of crafts and buttons. Cardstock used to create the T shape on the card was Sahara Sand and for the dots on the scallop circle, I used the white Uni-ball gel pen.

I than cut a 1 1/2" x 2 1/4" rectangle in Cherry Cobbler for the right hand side. Later added the Fancy Flower on top. Stamp set used was the Posy Punch and color used was Soft Suede.

Didn't want to stop there, so I used Crumb Cake ink and the Letter It stamp set for the "T". Stamp Set Fabulous Phrases and Cherry Cobbler ink was also used directly on top of the "T". Last but not least added stampin dimensionals to pop up the letter. Hope you Enjoy!

Thank You with Triple Treat Flower and Spice Cake

When looking for a sketch, I found this one designed by Nance Leedy over at The Paper Players and wanted to give it a try. It was created for challenge#69 back in Oct 23rd. You can click here and see all of the other creations made using this sketch. They are beautiful.

Here is what I came up with

My focus was to create a clean and simple card that could be used for many occassions. In this case, I needed a thank-you card, but the sentiment can easily be changed.

I love this stamp, called Triple Treat Flower and with the DSP, Spice Cake availble in the Holiday Mini through December 31st. You can really do alot of different color combinations, thereby making it very versatile. For the colors, I used Pool Party, More Mustard, and Old Olive for the center. Top it off with a Basic Rhinestone along with a few more rhinestone at random.

Here is a close up of the rhinestones spread out at random along with the embossing folder, Houndstooth for texture in the background. Cardstock used was Old Olive and the More Mustard cardstock was punched out using the scallop trim punch.

For the sentiment, I used Easy Events and used a marker to grab only the sentiment portion. Hope you Enjoy!!

The Paper Players #73 - Color Challenge - Mover & Shapers along with Word Play

Love the Mover & Shapers Curly Label Die and finally had a chance to play with it for this challenge at The Paper Players which this week is a color challenge along with a Clean and Simple look. If you would like to join the fun click here to go directly to the challenge.

For this card, I used 2 different embossing folders, Strips for the top of the card and the Snow Burst for the bottom half of the inside card.

For the snowflakes on the top, I used the snowflake punch and than used Shimmer Paint to create the Silver in it and used one basic pearl for the center of each one.  

Here is a close up picture of the middle of the card which shows better the sentiment. I  used the stamp set from Word Play and embossed it in Silver.

Since I love punches, I couldn't resist but to use the eyelet border punch for the top of the card which sits nicely over the snow burst embossing look that is on the inside of the card.

Pals Blog Hop Nov 2011 - Beautiful Season, Curly Cute & Contempo Christmas

This is a great month to start off Christmas Cards and with a baby now in the house, the focus was creating a couple of quick cards that can be done in less than 10 mins.

This first card is quite simple and fast to re-create

The christmas tree is an image from the new DSP, Frostwood Lodge along with the gridlines. I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of DSP making sure to include the tree as my focus and matted it with a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cardstock in Real Red.

Before matting the DSP, I applied Dazzling Details to the tree and edges of the cardstock with a paint brush to add some shimmer to the card and used the embossing heat gun to dry it faster. The snowflake on the upper right hand side was punched using the snowflake punch along with Silver Glimmer Paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Here is a close up of the Dazzling Details effect when added directly to the card.

The sentiment is from the stamp set Curly Cute along with Early Espresso ink, which is hard to capture this color with the camera. At the end, I added some basic rhinestones.  

For the next card, I used the stamp set: Beautiful Season

Main base for the card is Old Olive (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") along with a 2" x 4 1/4" strip of DSP called Letters To Santa for the bottom portion.

 Started with a 2 3/4" square in whisper white, stamped the image and sponged around the square using Soft Suede Ink. Used a blender pen to color the image and matted it to a 3" square in Cherry Cobbler. Stampin Dimensionals were added before matting to the main base.

For the middle, I cut a small strip of Early Espresso and added it to the Cherry Cobbler strip which I punched out using the scallop trim border punch. Added 5 Basic Pearls.

The sentiment is from the stamp set: Contempo Christmas and used Early Espresso ink, which is hard to capture this color on camera. Punched it out using the Decorative Label Punch and sponged around it with Soft Suede ink.
