    PPA100 - Challenge - What's Your Technique

Wow, the Pals Paper Arts is having their 100th challenge and they are doing something very special this week for those who wish to participant.

Your entry is a chance to win an amazing jackpot of blog candy and better yet something from each member of the design team. You can check out their website by clicking here....Pals Paper Arts.

Here is the Challenge: Show us your favorite technique this week - anything you enjoy doing, from embossing to masking to water coloring to paper piercing..........the list is endless. My favorite is embossing, so I did 2 types of embossing on this card.

One, is the easiest types, called dry embossing. In this case, I used the embossing folder called: Elegant Lines (one of my favorites) with Pretty in Pink cardstock. See how it adds texture to the cardstock.

The second type of embossing I did is called emboss resist technique. This allows you to use any color around the image with either sponge daubers and or any tool to apply some ink to a card and yet the image itself will still be untouched.

Basically, I took the stamp image and embossed it with clear embossing powder, than I took Old Olive ink and sponged it using a sponge dauber (bottom half only). Yes, use the sponge dauber on top of the image that you embossed, you will see your image come alive.

Than, I took Pretty in Pink ink and sponge daubed the top half (lighter in some areas) also added So Saffron ink on top of the pretty in pink and last but not least added Marina Mist ink in different areas. Again, use the sponge dauber and apply the ink on top of the image, you will see the image appear even more now. Keep going until you acheive the look you want.

Other supplies used: Mat Pack (top right hand corner and bottom left hand side), So Saffron cardstock, Subtles DSP, Basic Rhinestones, stamp set: Because I care (available only thru today 6/30 and as a hostess stamp set), and Simple Friendship for the 3 flowers (also available only thru today)....last chance items for the stamp sets.

Don't miss out on this weeks challenge at the Pals Paper Arts, it will be super fun!!!

Mojo Monday MOJO197 - Something Old with Something New - Flower Fest

Another week for Mojo Monday and a sketch design by Julee Tilman. This one is called MOJO197.  If you would like to play it's easy go to their website at Mojo Monday and link up your card. It's Fun !!!.....here is mine

As you can see, I choose square, but I'm in the mood for circle too, so I may just try another one. This card uses retired paper called Sending Love Specialty (something old) and one of the newest stamp sets called: Flower Fest (something new).

Here is a close up of the flowers and leaves that I embossed using white embossing powders. I love the effect of embossing, it really brings alot to the card.

The colors are: Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette,(flowers) and Lucky Limeade (leaves)
For the sentiment I used: Perfect Punches which will still be in the new catalog...yeah!! in Marina Mist. The little ribbon is 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (Marina Mist)....here is another view.

As always, feel free to email me anytime if you have any question on how I did something or what I used. I would love to hear from you. Enjoy!! Pin It

The Paper Players Challenge #53 - A Sketch

This cute website called The Paper Players  has a weekly challenge starting every Sunday and I just had to join in the fun with this cute sketch PP53 designed by: Lesley Croghan. If you would to play also, go to their website by clicking here.

Here is what I came up with based on this cute sketch:

Here is a close up picture of how I sponge daubed the butterfly using pretty in pink to add in some color to the card. This paper called: Elegant Soiree (117163) is one of my all time favorites and sorry to see it being retired.

Take advantage with only 4 days left to pick some of this gorgeous DSP...best thing is it's 25% off.

I used a few punches for this card. I took the 1 3/8" circle punch to cut out the butterfly which I stamped in Early Espresso than I adhered that to the 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch using Marina Mist cardstock. Next, I used the circle scissor plus to cut out a 1 7/8" circle in Bashful Blue.

Finally, I took my stampin dimensionals and put them under the scallop circle and than again under the 1 7/8" circle to make the card pop out more. Added some basic pearls to embellish. I used the stamp set called: Thanks for caring.

Feel free to email me anytime if you have any question on how I did something or what I used. I would love to hear from you.

Birthday Card - Fabulous Florets with Jolly Holiday

Okay it seems I'm a little stuck on this paper and stamp set, so here is another card using both Fabulous Florets and Jolly Holiday. This stamp set is just so cute with the flowers, so it's hard to resist but to do another card.

For this one, I decided to add pearls and gems to see how they look together on a card and l loved it. At first, I wasn't sure about combining both together but in the end it works. Of course I had to use my stampin dimensionals and for the sentiment, I used the stamp set called: You're a Gem.

Baby News: The doctor says I only have 12 more weeks to go and so far everything has been great with my health, but of course every time I go to the doctors office that scale keeps going up....oh how I hate to go on that thing. I think it's wrong.....funny how at home it's less. Better yet, I don't even like to go on it.

Talking about countdown, there is only 4 more days left til June 30th for last chance items. It's a great time to get your favorites still plus take advantage of clearance rack by shopping online. Here are the list for last chance items that are retiring:

(Only available while supplies last......Discounts up to 40% off selected items)

MOJO196 - Sketch using Fabulous Florets

Here is another week challenge sketch at Mojo Monday website called MOJO196 designed by Julee Tilman.

To play along, make a project using the provided sketch and upload it to your blog or online gallery. Then leave a link to your project using the linky widget at their website. Here is mine below....

Here is a close up of the flowers and the use of stampin dimensionals. I first stamp the images using Cherry Cobbler right on the cardstock called Daffodil Delight and than cut out flowers.

Now to give it a 3-D look, I took one of the smaller flowers, added some stampin dimensionals and put it on top of the larger flower. I than took the other 2 smaller flowers and added more stampin dimensionals to sit above the oval. I than thought, let me add leaves to the card so I than cut out several leaves using old olive ink on top of pear pizzaz cardstock and placed them under the flowers.

I decided to sponge the oval using so saffron to give it a little more color around the oval before placing completely down. Finally, I added Basic Pearls in different sizes. Hope you like!!!

Supplies Used:
  • Stamp Set - Fabulous Florets (123027) C,  Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370) sentiment

Stampin' Up Sneak Peek at New Colors, Tools, along with Owl Punch

Here is a card I did using several new products that will be coming out July 1, 2011. Can you tell which ones they are? Well, here we go.........New colors on this card (top half) is using a new color called Island Indigo, which is such a pretty blue.

Also, in the middle, I cut a strip (5" x 1 3/16") using a new color called: Lucky Limeade which is a very nice green that works so well with these colors. In fact, it would blend nicely with alot of colors.

Not done yet, on the top of the strip I used one of the newest punches called: Lace Ribbon.......oh so pretty!! For the sentiment, I used the word "Big Wish" from one of the newest stamp sets called: Pennant Parade....cute set that comes with lots of goodies in it. I used the small oval punch to cut out the sentiment (which is retiring June 30), so get it while supplies last if you don't have one and want it.

Next, I used another new color called: Pool Party that I punched out using the Large Oval punch to use as a mat behind the sentiment. This punch will still be in the new catalog.

Last but not least, I used one of the newest Letterpress plates called: Fancy Fan.......not sure if you can tell in the picture, I used an emboss resist technique for the letterpress section......keep posted as I will post step by step instructions on how to get this look on one of the next upcoming posts.

Oh, I almost forgot.......I used the Owl punch....kinda obvious I suppose...it does pop up at you with the close up shot....love this little guy, easy to have the eyes look up/down/left/or right. Used the 2-step bird punch to punch out the leaf and finally, used the embossing folder called: Elegant Bouquet for the top half of this 5 x 5 card.

Also used: Modern Label Punch which I cut out using Real Red cardstock. The 2 little dots on each side of the sentiment is from the Owl Punch. I used Tombow Multipurpose liquid Glue pg.197 to adhere all of the little pieces and comes in handy when you put the Owl together.

Colors Used for Owl : Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Real Red, and Lucky Limeade. Hope you Enjoy!!! Pin It

Mojo Monday195 - Love Letter and Just Believe

Here is this week's challenge at Mojo Monday (MOJO 195) with a sketch design by Debbie Carriere

Can you believe these are retiring... the little Embosslits Dies called Simple Flower and Cherry Blossom  flowers. They are so cute and perfectly embossed little flowers, as I would call them.  The  good news is they are on sale at 40% off and only $7.17 each while supplies last.

The last chance lists can be found here for all items now retiring or while supplies last, so if you don't have these little guys than now is the time to buy.

I used the Circle Scissor Plus to cut out a 2 1/2" circle as my main focal point (middle)....this little thing is great....it can cut out so many variations of circles and so many sizes. Also, I added a corduroy button from the Cherry Cobbler just to give it a little color on top, but otherwise stuck to more neutral and stuble colors. Finally, added little Rhinestones around the center to add some sparkle.

Baby News: I'm getting bigger and bigger everyday now or at least it seems like that. This is the period where the baby is putting on weight....at least that's what I keep telling myself to keep myself sane when I'm expanding outward. I do watch what I eat and only limit myself on a bite or two of sweets...one of my favorites and hard to resist.

Even though I want to eat more, I found out that you only need to add an extra 300 calories a day when your pregnant and as you know 300 calories is nothing....one muffin at least from Costco can be that.

Supplies Used:
  • Stamp Set - Just Believe (120453)
  • Inks - Soft Suede ( 115657)
  • Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze, Early Espresso, So Saffron
  • DSP - Love Letter (117162)
  • Other - Stampin Dimensionals (104430),  Rhinestones (119246), Ribbon (retired)
  • Embosslits Dies: Simple Flower (114514), Cherry Blossom (114516)
  • Circle Scissor Plus: (112530), Scallop Border Punch (119882)

PPA98 - Sketch Challenge using Delicate Doilies and Punches

Surprise!!! It's another fun week at the Pals Paper Arts website with a wonderful sketch created by: Margaret Moody

They always have a great new challenge every Thursday and this is one of them. Join the fun by creating a card based off of the sketch above and link it to their website. It's easy to link up and all you need to do is create a card. Here is mine below.........

This little stamped image comes from one of the newest stamp sets called: Delicate Doilies  which is coming out July 1....yeah!! and can easily be punched out using the Doily Triple Layer Punch......isn't cute!!!

The stamp set goes so well with this DSP called: Love Letter which is retiring June 30.

I than cut out a 1 1/2" circle using So Saffron and the Circle Scissor Plus to use as a mat behind it. Yes, I did use stampin dimensionals under the punch out and used it again under the middle square, and last but not least under the sentiment.

I find that by using the dimensionals on top of an embossed cardstock holds much better verses using regular adhesive and putting the sentiment on top. It also makes the card pop up more.

Also, I used the Finial Press embossing folder to emboss the whisper white cardstock.

For the leaves, I used the Two-Step Bird and combined it with the leaves from the Build a Blossom set using Old Olive cardstock and ink. This set comes in handy for alot of things.

You may be asking what about the sentiment.....well I used the stamp set called: Thanks for Caring that was in the Occasions Mini Catalog that ended April 30 but no longer available.

Important note.... the Summer Mini that is currently available has many beautiful items...get them before they are no longer available ends Aug 31st.

Afterthoughts with Springtime Vintage

Love this paper and wanted to combine it with one of my favorite colors called: Rich Razzleberry. They came up with a great name for this color, it's exactly that a rich razzleberry color. I used the stamp set: Afterthoughts which is currently still available until June 30 and you can earn it for free as a hostess set.

Book a workshop and if your gathering sales is $150.00 (before tax and shipping) than you can have this set for free and / or you can be your own hostess by shopping online, which is availble 24 hours 7 days a week. Great time to take advantage of your favorite sets before they retire...click here to see.

Also, gotta love the scallop trim corner punch along with the scallop trim border which can add a decorative look around any square and or rectangle.....punch, punch....away!!

As always, I used stampin dimensionals to raise up the sentiment....hopefully you can see that on the close up picture.

I know....Simple look, but one of my friends wanted a simple and clean card, so that was my focus on this card for today!! Hope you enjoy!! ....keep a look out for tommorrow's card.....it's a Surprise. Changed fonts on this post....let me know what you think?
