Merry Monday #26 - Christmas with Curly Cute & Tags til Christmas

Another week and a new sketch with Merry Monday Challenge#26 hosted by Lesley Croghan over at Always Playing with Paper. The idea behind it is getting a head start on Christmas cards. I figured that by the time Christmas comes around, I'll have enough done not to be pressured on making them all at once.

If you would like to get started on your Christmas cards early, this site would be the one. Click here to go directly to the challenge.
    Here is mine below:
Started this card with the embossing folder: Snow Burst for the background in Whisper White than went looking for some Christmas DSP and found Letters to Santa. For me, I love this paper and goes so well with Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso.

If you click on the photo, you can see it at it's best since it keeps changing the look for html version and after repeated attempts can't adjust anymore....unless it's just me.

Used the stamp set: Tags til Christmas along with the macthing Ornament punch. Added a little Baker's Twine to make it look like it's hanging. Used Stampin Dimensionals under the Cherry Cobbler mat and under the Ornament. Final touch added this little ribbon and rhinestone.

For the sentiment, I used the set: Curly Cute and Cherry Cobbler ink. Hope you enjoy and have fun creating!!

PP101 - Sketch - Mocha Morning with Elements of Style

The Paper Player has a new sketch designed by the talented Lesley Croghan, PP101 in which the design team like always as come up with some gorgeous artwork inspiration for it. If you would like to join, click here to go directly to the challenge.

Here is mine:
I love this DSP paper: Mocha Morning Specialty (retired) along with a special friend of mine at work, so I made her this card for her special day and hope she enjoys. I should call this card....something old with somthing new.

This set is one of my favorites as well called: Elements of Style. Here I used one of the new In-Colors: Raspberry Ripple for the flower, Old Olive for the leaves, and Soft Suede for the bird with has Stampin Dimensionals underneath. Added a tiny basic pearl on his eye. In addition did a little paper piercing around the circle. Filled in the color with an Aqua Painter.

Here, I used 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon in Very Vanilla and for the center, I first added a clear button on top, later punched out a 5/8" circle with the DSP and added it on top with a glue dot. For final touch, added a basic pearl in the middle.

This set comes with such a versatile sentiment...."For You" along with another saying (not pictured) which is perfect for any occassion.

Cardstock used is Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Soft Suede, and Crumb Cake. Stampin Dimensionals were also used under the circle. Hope you Enjoy and have fun creating.

PPA137 - My Friend with Comfort Cafe

It's time for another wonderful challenge over at the Pals Paper Arts . This week they have a sketch design by the talented Margaret Moody which is darling and so there I went to figure out what to create with it.

If you would like to join the fun, click here and go directly to this fun challenge.
Here is mine below:
Back to playing with some new stuff again and new colors including Midnight Muse as my base cardstock for this 5x5 card. For the center, Summer Starfruit was used as the focal point and Raspberry Ripple for the 1 3/8" circle (upper right). For the sentiment, the set called: Loving Thoughts was a perfect fit inside the circle.

Don't you love this new ribbon and all the stitches? Here is a close up picture of the 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon (Raspberry Ripple) along with the new In color Dahlias (Summer Starfruit)

I couldn't resist but to add a couple of little butterflies in Midnight Muse using the embosslit die called Beautiful Wings on top of the circle......while I wait to get the new butterfly punch.

This DSP, Comfort Cafe is just so versatile. It's getting to be one of my favorites along with the stamp set: My Friend. Once again, I used sponge daubers to create this look. (Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple, and Summer Starfruit). Stampin Dimensionals were used under both circles to pop it up just a little. Hope you Enjoy!!

Merry Monday #25 - Christmas with Scenic Season

A new challenge over at Always Playing with Paper with Merry Monday. Today will be short and sweet since I've been struggling with this computer and having issues with my photos and the dealine is just around the corner.

If you would like to get started on your Christmas cards early, this site would be the one. Click here to go directly to the challenge.

 Here is mine:
Finally got my chance to try a topper card and great for Christmas. The DSP, this one called: Frostwood Lodge (now retired) along with the set: Scenic Season. Finally, got my chance to use my ribbon, 3/8' Quilted Satin Ribbon.

For the background, I used my chalks, perfect for adding softness and color. Believe it or not, this is one of the few cards I didn't use Stampin Dimensionals. Early Espresso and Old Olive cardstock along with a Basic Pearl were my main supplies for this. Hope you Enjoy!!

PP100 - Celebration Party 100th at Paper Players

The Paper Player is having their 100th Party Challenge, PP100 and as you can see, you can choose any of your favorite past 100 challenges. Therefore anything goes this week and how cool to see which ones are people's most favorite.

For me, it's hard to select just one favorite, so instead, I looked at it with fresh eyes and went through all of the previous sketches they had and loved Challenge #40, since I love punches and this sketch gives me the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Here is the sketch:

Since my DSP Twitterpated was out and about, I went with that and for contrast used Real Red. The funny thing was, I realized in the end, Riding Hood Red is one of the coordinating cardstock for it, but Real Red works just as well.

For this card, I pulled out the Owl Punch which is so fun to play with and made a girl version with it. Colors used were: Early Espresso, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade for the leaf. The Doily was from the now retired DSP (Flirtatious Specialty)

For these cute little flowers, the stamp set: Language of Friendship was used along with the Boho Blossoms Punch and Island Indigo ink. Stampin Dimensionals were used to pop them up and placed at random. For the side, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch was used in Whisper White.
For the sentiment, used now retired set: Perfect Words since I'm giving this card to my sister and thought it was perfect for her aside from the fact it was super late at night when I finished this card and this set was right next to me. She loves Owls.
If you haven't stopped over yet, click here to go directly to The Paper Player website and if you want to see Challenge #40 and get some other ideas, click here. Hope you Enjoy and have fun!!

FMS39 - Laugauge of Friendship

What a cute sketch design by the very talented Team Designer, Jen Mitchell over at the Freshly Made Sketches blog and I wanted to give a try. So many beautiful cards already there as today is the last day to still enter.
Here you go:
Picked up the DSP Twitterpated, since it's my most favorite paper, but still trying to challenge myself to use various different color combos with other challenges yet to come still. Blushing Bride was used as the mat background, Island Indigo for the mat stripe on the left hand side and Pear Pizzaz for the 2 1/2' circle.

Love this little bird and flowers from the set: Lauguage of Friendship. It's getting easier to challenge myself and practice more for clean & simple looks, but always uncertain as to if it needs more and/or less. I suppose that's the hard part along with deciding where to start for any card, but always fun.
For the sentiment, the set Loving Thoughts came in handy for this card and used Island Indigo ink for it. Stampin Dimensionals were used under the bird, wing, and little flowers that were done using Riding Hood Red. Hope you enjoy and if you haven't stopped by yet, you can click here to go directly to the challenge.

Mojo Monday 245 - Word Play and Pretty Postage

Another week at Mojo Monday, MOJO245, with another sketch design by Julee Tilman. Every Monday I look to see the new sketch design and always get excited, but only get a chance towards late week and or weekends to play, so once again it's Sunday for me.

Here you go:
I've been wanting to work on a masculine card and here is what I came up with. Got out the DSP First Edition Specialty and started away. It's hard to tell in the photo, but there is a color contrast on the card with Black and Early Espresso.

For the main attraction, the stamp set: Word Play was used along with 2 3/8" Scallop Punch and 1 1/2" circle, afterwards added 1 Basic Rhinestone for the letter "I". For the upper left hand side,  the set: Pretty Postage was used, 1 3/8" circle and 1 1/2" circle as well. Soft Suede ink was perfect for the neutral look.

Almost forgot, as usual I used Stampin Dimensional under the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle to pop up the sentiment more. Hope you enjoy!! Pin It

Here is mine below:
I really love this new DSP paper called: Comfort Cafe. It works so well with a variety of colors such as one of the newest color cardstock called Summer Starfruit which is the center focus mat.

Also, finally...I got a chance to play with this stamp set called: My Friend. To get these results, I used sponge daubers onto the stamp image before stamping down onto Whisper White cardstock. Colors used were: Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple, and Summer Starfruit (all new in-colors). For the sentiment, I used the stamp set: Loving Thoughts

For the ribbon, I used 1/2" Steam Binding Ribbon (Baja Breeze) and for the button, I punched out a 1 1/4" circle from the DSP (Comfort Cafe) and adhered it to a clear button using Mod Podge . Therefore, giving it a matching button. For the embossed strip, I used the Tulip Frame folder with Baja Breeze cardstock to go against the Early Espresso.

Next I Have:
This is a simple easy to re-create card since this new DSP called: Floral District already has a beautiful print on it. Although the green is showing more bright in the picture than in real person (My camera). This is really a very nice DSP to work with and fun.

I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border in Whisper White, than embossed this beautiful flower from the new set called: Betsy's Blossoms using White on top of Pink Pirouette cardstock. Later I stamped the same image using Rich Razzleberry. Stampin Dimensionals were used in between.

For the sentiment, I used the stamp set: Fabulous Phrases along with Rich Razzleberry ink.

Now hop along for more inspiring ideas from Sandie Conner at Pretty Provisions, stop number 27 on the Pals New Catalog Blog Hop! Thanks for "hopping" by!

Mojo Monday 244 - Language of Friendship & Summer Smooches

Another week at Mojo Monday, MOJO244, with another sketch design by Julee Tilman. This week, it's the begining of the month and as many of you know who play it's always fun.

This time around I played with a color combo I don't normally work with but it's always good to challenge yourself so there I went to my start my card and I must say I loved it in the end. Everyone should try this if you haven't already.

First time playing with this cute stamp set: Language of Friendship and love it.
I started off with this cute little embossing folder called: Framed Tulips and DSP: Summer Smooches. Colors included: Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Calypso Coral, Marina Mist, So Saffron, and Early Espresso.

Ribbon: 3/8" Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon and Basic Rhinestones to add final touches.
To get the white dots on top of the 2 3/8" scallop circle, a white Uni-ball gel pen was used.
Almost forgot, I used the Scallop border punch for the scallop bottoms, 1 3/4" circleBird Builder Punch, and of course my favorite, Stampin Dimensionals for under the bird and flowers. Hope you Enjoy!!

Merry Monday #23 - Christmas

Every Monday is a new challenge over at Always Playing with Paper called Merry Monday which is a Christmas Theme along with a sketch for the week. This is a great way to get started early on Christmas cards so decided to join the fun!!

I didn't use traditonal Christmas colors for this card, but instead Marina Mist, Pink Pirouette, a little Wisteria Wonder, and of course Whisper White which reminds me of Christmas.

For the stamp set, I used: Greeting Cards Kids and prima color pencils to color it in. Also, used the set: Perfect Punches for the sentiment. Used Glitter to create a snow scence effect for her to stand on.

Couldn't resist but to add some snowflakes and so I used my Northern Frost Strip Die and some Subtles Glimmer Brads (both retired now). Stampin Dimensionals were used under the sentiment.

There is still time to play if you would like to join, click here to go directly to the challenge section which ends Sunday 6/10/12 at Noon. Hope you Enjoy!!
