Pals Blog Hop March 2012 - Spring Theme Ideas - Mixed Bunches and Lots of Punches

Spring has sprung and it's time for Pals Blog Hop! Today the Stampin' Pretty Pals are sharing some fabulous Spring themed cards and projects that we think you'll enjoy! You've probably hopped over from Susan Lankford at Stamp and Scrap with Susan, I'm stop number 15 on the Pals Hop and I'm glad you hopped in!

I'll help you "hop along" from blog to blog where you'll find great ideas for spring themed paper projects from the Stampin' Pretty Pals! Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the Pals Hop Line-up below and you'll be back on track

Here is the first card (5x5) using several punches along with the stamp set Mixed Bunches and DSP called Everyday Enchantment which is still available through the Sale-A-Bration catalog until March 31st.

For the midle cardstock, Pear Pizzaz was used (1 1/2" x 5") along with Poppy Parade 1/2" Stitched Poly Ribbon and a Basic Pearl on each side.

For the vase, I used the Wide Extra Large Oval punch and trimed one end straight and used the Small Oval Punch for the other end creating the opening of a vase. Also used a sponge dauber to distress around the Whisper White cardstock using Soft Suede ink.

For the stem, I cut a strip of Pear Pizzaz cardstock and than added the 2 leaves using the Blossom Petals punch and matching stamp set called: Build A Blossom.

Here I used the Butterfly Wings Embosslit Die using More Mustard cardstock along with some tiny Basic Pearls in the center.

For the flower, I stamped it using Poppy Parade and Pool Party ink along with using the matching punch, but since I wanted to create an even bigger flower, I punched out 2 more mixed bunch flowers using Poppy Parade and cut each petal.  Hint:(use stampin dimensionals between the layer of flowers for a pop up look).

Later, I placed each petal underneath the Pool Party flower giving the illusion of  a bigger flower. I used a total of 9 petals altogether. Now onto the second card below........

Since I was playing with punches, I figured why not try another card so I came up with this below for another spring theme idea:

Colors for the mat background from top to bottom (Pool Party - Wisteria Wonder - Pear Pizzaz) along with Scallop Border Punch in So Saffron 

Here I used the Bird Punch for the bottom and than took a marker and added some lines to show more detail to the leaves with the idea of grass at the bottom.

For the clouds, I used the Cupcake Punch and used a spong dauber along with Marina Mist ink.

Here is my favorite part - the center focus which used the Triple Layer Blossom Punch for the flowers, Bird Punch for the stems and the Blossom Petals Punch for the leaves. At the end, I added 3/8" Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon.

For the middle focus mat, I used the color Regal Rose, for the flowers Pool Party and Regal Rose, for the leaves Pear Pizzaz along with the help of the stamp set: Build A Blossom

Stampin Dimensionals were used under each Blossom Punch flower and under this section. Last but not least added some Basic Pearls in the middle of each flower. Hope you Enjoyed!!!

PPA130 & PP85 - Color & Spring Theme Challenges with Punches

For this card, I decided to try a combo of two of my favorite challenges, one over at the Pals Paper Arts, which is having a color challenge with a twist this week (PPA130) and over at the The Paper Players with a Spring Theme Challenge by Jaydee.

I wish I had more time to play this week, but I'm still not over this cold and neither is the baby, so most of my time is taking medicine for myself while making sure my little one gets better. He is so young (still under 6 months) and sounds like an adult coughing, so the challenge at home is keeping him upright at all times, even through the night while I battle this cold as well. Hoping for the best....anyways onto the card!!!

For the color challenge, I used Always Artichoke as my base, Lucky Limeade for the base of the flower, stems and leaves, and Melon Mambo for the top of the flower as my color choice, which I think works very well together.

Also used the DSP called Cheerful Treat which gives it a spring feel to it along with 3/8" Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon. 

Yes, I did use the new Framelit on this card and sponged it with Marina Mist ink to add a little more color to this........I was thinking about the sky when I started.

To create the flower, use the Owl punch (cut his little feet off first), than add a Small Oval punch on top (center of flower). For the base of the flower, punch out top half of Owl punch (Lucky Limeade) and adhere to the bottom (turn around and trim according to the roundness of the bottom). Last but not least, use the Bird Punch (for the stem and leaves). 

The circles were also from the Owl Punch. Almost forgot, Stampin Dimensionals were used under the flower to pop it up more. Hope you Enjoy!!

Mojo Monday 229 - Triple Treat Flower with Twitterpated

Another week at the Mojo Monday, MOJO229, this week sketch designed by Mary Fisher. If you would like to join, click here to go directly to the challenge. 

Here is my card below.......

I must admit this sketch was a challenge for me since I played around for hours seeing which papers to even start with when I looked at the DSP called Twitterpated from the Occassions Mini Catalog, I thought "yes" this would be perfect to go with the card.

Here I started off with Marina Mist as my base.

Believe it or not this flower comes from only 1 stamp called Triple Treat Flower which is in the current Sale-A-Bration Catalog as one of the choices of free products to select from with any $50.00 purchase (before tax and shipping). For the colors, I started with Chocolate Chip as my base for the flower, than stamped using Riding Hood Red, followed by Marina Mist and Pear Pizzazz for the 1/2 circle on top.

Hopefully you can see the layers in the flower which was done by using Stampin Dimensionals at each color change which made this flower pop at you. In addition, stampin dimensionals were used to raise the entire middle focal position as well.

Not sure why the ribbon color changed in this photo, but it's 3/8" Taffeta Riding Hood Red. Last but not least, used Basic Pearls to each corner of the flower. Other tools used to complete this card was the Fancy Flower Punch, 5-Petal Flower Punch, 1/2 circle punch, and Word Window Punch. Hope you Enjoy!!

PPA129 - Sketch - Elements of Style with Attic Boutique

It's time for another wonderful challenge at the Pals Paper Arts .

Going to keep this post short for today since I've been sick and not feeling at my best, but wanted to join in this sketch challenge. Love this DSP Attic Boutique from the Occassions Mini Catalog which will be available through April 30, 2012

Here I used the stamp set, Elements of Style and was able to once again use my Watercolor Wonder Crayons. I used colors to match along with the DSP.

Added several Basic Pearls to bring out the paper along with the flowers. Hard to tell in the photo, but used stampin dimensionals to raise up the middle focal point of the card. Hope you Enjoy!! Pin It

Treat Box Card with Everyday Enchantment and Mixed Bunch

Wanted to give this treat box card a try that I found from Splitcoaststampers and used the DSP Everyday Enchantment from the Sale-A-Bration catalog along with Patterned Papers from Pool Party.

For the flower, I punched out the bottom layer with Poppy Parade cardstock as a mat and than stamped one of the images from the set Mixed Bunch using Poppy Parade ink and scored each petal down the center making it easier to curl the flower up. For the center, Early Espresso ink was used along with the 3/4" circle punch for the middle.

For the leaves, I used the set Build a Blossom in Luck Limeade along with the matching punch Blossom Petals and also scored each leaf down the center making it easier to curl up the sides. 

For the sentiment, I selected it from the Apothecary Art stamp set and used Early Espresso, but the camera is not picking up the color well and making it look Black.

Pals Blog Hop Feb 2012 - Occassions Mini Catalog & Sale-A-Bration

It's the occasion of the year as the Stampin' Pretty Pals share some fabulous cards and projects featuring Stampin' Up!'s Occasion Mini and Sale-A-Bration products on today's Pals Blog Hop!

I'll help you "hop along" from blog to blog where you'll find great ideas for paper projects showcasing Stampin' Up!'s Occasion Mini and Sale-A-Bration products from the Stampin' Pretty Pals!

From the Mini Occassions come the new Framelits Dies which are hard to resist. This one is called the Labels collection. Also, showing off one of the brand new stamp sets called: Apothecary Art. I really love how they match up hand an hand.

DSP is also from the Occassions Mini Catalog called: Attic Boutique and one of my favorites. For the ribbon, I used Crumb Cake 1/2" Seam Binding along with lots of basic pearls as you can see in the picture below.

For the coloring, I used the Watercolor Wonder Crayons which are fabulous especially when your trying to match up colors.  

For this card, I used one of the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets called: Fresh Vintage and used an Embossed Resist technique to create this one. Almost was able to get all of the different images from this stamp set on this one card, but missing only one, a postage.

Here is a close up of one of the images from the set. First I heat embossed with clear embossing powder all of the images onto the card, than I pick up a stamping sponge and sponged the entire card with Marina Mist ink.  

Here, I used the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch to help me add a few flowers onto the card. My luck was that it was a perfect match for a couple of the images from the set, including the middle flower which I used Cherry Cobbler ink for the center.
