    MOJO201 & PPA104 - Combo Challenge - Elements of Style

Wanted to try a challenge combo and since I enjoyed the circle layout sketch, MOJO201 from the the Mojo Monday Website and the PPA104 Paper Piercing challenge at the Pals Paper Art, I figured to combine both in one card.

Here is what I came up with

This is the top view of the card using the stamp set: Element of Style and again the DSP paper called: Beau Chateau. I just love this paper and can't put it away quite yet. For the scallop circle card, I used the Bigz Die called: Circle Scallop.

You may be asking where is the paper piercing, well here it is on the inside of the circle easel card.

For the inside, I cut out a 3 3/4" circle in Very Vanilla and than cut out a 3 1/2" circle in DSP (Beau Chateau). Before placing it down, I used the mat pack and paper piercing tool to poke holes around the circle.

For the sentiment, I used Early Espresso ink and punched it out using the Modern Label Punch and for the Mat behind the sentiment (Marina Mist cardstock), I used the Mover's and Shaper's Punch Window Set.

Here is the finished look when set up as an easel card. Almost forgot, I added stampin dimensionals under the sentiment, so when you open the card, not only does the sentiment pop out at you, but the top card has a place to rest on when sitting upright. Hope you enjoy the combo.

If you would like to join the fun, click here for the Mojo Monday challenge MOJO201 and click here to join the fun at the Pals Paper Arts PPA104 challenge.

PPA104 - CAS Element of Style Paper Piercing - Posy Punch

Don't want to miss out on this week's challenge at the Pals Paper Arts. The challenge is an Element of Style - Paper Piercing and I love to poke holes. All you need to do is create a CAS, (Clean and Simple) card using paper piercing and link it to their website by clicking here. So poke away!!!
Here is mine

For this card, I decided to focus on a circle card to change it up a bit from the normal 4.25 x 5.5 " that I normally do. In addition, I focused on it being clean and simple which is always a challenge for me. I always feel there is something missing, but this one I was happy with.

I started off by poking holes along the left hand side of the chocolate chip cardstock to define the circle more and than took the Pink Pirouette cardstock and paper pierced the sides to add more definition to it using the mat pack and paper piercing tool.

I used the new hostess set called: Posy Punch and stamped it with Marina Mist Ink and than used the matching punch called Fancy Flower to punch it out. Afterwards, I took another image and stamped it using Soft Suede Ink and put stampin dimensionals under it before putting it in the center and added dimensionals under the fancy flower itself also.

Last but not least, I added Basic Pearl in the center and 5 little rhinestones around the flower to give it a little sparkle. For the leaves, I used the stamp set called: Build a Blossom which comes in super handy when you want to add some leaves to any flowers with Pear Pizzazz ink on top of Pear Pizzazz cardstock.

Chocolate Chip circle size is 3 3/4"
Pink Pirouette strip measures 5/8" width x 3 3/4"
DSP: Beau Chateau approx 1/4 of the 3 3/4" circle

Complet list of supplies:
  • Stamp Set - Posy Punch (Hostess) (122482) C (122480) W
  • Inks - Soft Suede (115657), Marina Mist (119668), Pear Pizzazz (119784)
  • Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Pear Pizzazz
  • DSP - Beau Chateau (122357)
  • Other- Stampin Dimensionals (104430),  Basic Pearls ( 119247), Mat Pack (105826), Paper-Piercing Tool (116631)
  • Punches - Fancy Flower (118073)

Mojo Monday MOJO201 - Sketch - Elements of Style

Staying on track with this week's Mojo Monday MOJO 201 Sketch design by Stephanie Kraft. Two choices this week and both are cute, either round or square, your pick on which one. If you would like to join the fun click here to go directly to their website.

This week, I decided to do square, but also thinking of doing round....maybe during the week since both sketch designs are really cute.

Finally got a chance to use another new DSP paper called: Beau Chateau with the stamp set: Elements of Style. Love this color combination, I would say it's one of my top favorites.

Marina Mist, Pretty in Pink, and Chocolate Chip are just a few colors that match up with this new DSP paper, and what I used for this card. Also, as always, Stampin dimensionals was used for the bird along with Chocolate Chip 5/8" Satin Ribbon.

Card size measures 5 x 5

Complete list of supplies:
  • Stamp Set - Element of Style (120045)
  • Inks - Early Espresso (119670)
  • Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Marina Mist, Chocolate Chip

PPA103 - Sketch Challenge Tagtastic with New In Colors

Another weekly challenge at the Pals Paper Arts website. This week it's a beautiful sketch design by Margaret Moody and the design team has created some beautiful cards to get you started.

It's easy to join the fun by clicking here to go directly to the challenge and link up your card. Here is mine below....

Love this bear image from the stamp set called: Tagtastic, which is currently a hostess set along with the new In colors: Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, and Island Indigo. Also played around with the sizzix embosslits called Beautiful Wings using Daffodil Delight as my base for the butterflies.

Love how the new color, Wisteria Wonder matches so well with the Concord Crush cardstock along with Pretty in Pink cardstock. Used the scallop trim corner punch along with the scallop trim border punch to add a little bit more decoration to the card.

As you can see, I used the butterfly embosslit in 3 colors and overlapped the colors on top of each other to add some contrast to the butterflies and added basic rhinestones to make this card sparkle a little.

Once again used stampin dimensionals to pop up the bear tag which I punched out using the Decorative Label Punch. Again, it's so nice to be able to have matching punches for the stamp sets. It makes the card go alot faster. Hope you Enjoy!! Pin It

Mojo Monday MOJO200 sketch - Tagtastic with Petite Pairs

Missed out on last week's Mojo Monday, but not this week. This week they have a new look, sketch designed by Julee Tilman and to celebrate they are giving away prizes. They will add one prize for every 50 entries (up to max of 8) and the randomly choosen winners will receive a $25.00 certificate to Verse Stamps. If you would like to join click here to go to their website.

Here is mine

I wanted to play with some new DSP, so I grabbed the New In Color Patterned Stack and pulled out Island Indigo. This is such a pretty blue and to go with the new DSP, I went to choose a new stamp set called: Tagtastic (hostess set) and Petite Pairs for the sentiment.

For the cardstock solid colors, I choose Pool Party, another new color along with Lucky Limeade for the strip down piece on the sketch. It's always nice to have colors that work together so nicely.

There are many times when I stop and think what am I going to do here with this sketch, but lucky that this time it came along without thinking forever. I used the circle scissor plus to cut out a 2 1/4"  in Pretty in Pink DSP and a 2 1/2" in Black.

Like I said in one of my previous posts, my head has been thinking flowers, so for this card, I made another flower using whisper white cardstock and for the leaves, I used Build a Blossom stamp set and Pear Pizzaz ink. Almost forgot, I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch to add some contrast with the Lucky Limeade strip.
Hope you Enjoy!!

Complete list of supplies:

  • Stamp Set - Petite Pairs (122497), Build a Blossom (121994), Tagtastic (122747) hostess set

For the scoops of ice cream, I used the Cupcake Builder punch and cut one scoop straight from the DSP and the other scoop in whisper white.

This close up photo shows all of the fun pinwheels in bright, bold colors and I used the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL die to cut out the ric rac in whisper white. To join the fun at the Pals Paper Arts this week, you can click here for the challenge this week.

New Stamp Set and DSP - Up, Up and Away with Big Top Birthday

Got some more new goodies and had to play around with one of the newest stamp sets called: Up, Up & Away. The name says it all don't you think? Also, the new DSP paper called: Big Top Birthday has a variety of patterned paper that is so cute and can be used for different occassions, especially to cheer someone up.

The stamp set has 6 ballons to play with, solid, stripes, dots, and more and it was so much fun trying them out. Once again, I used the newest embossing folder called: Stripes with Real Red cardstock.

I'm never sure what angle the camara takes better pictures, so I try to show off the cards in different positions, so hopefully you can see all the elements to the card. This photo shows the embossed stripes much better in the top with the 2 little rhinestones. I figured to give it a little sparkle.

This set comes with clouds, but I love sponging, so I created the clouds in the background myself using a new color called: Pool Party and added the little birds from the set using, Island Indigo. For the sentiment, I used Early Espresso ink.

Stampin dimensionals were used under the hot air ballons and the card measures 5x5.

Complete list of supplies:
  • Stamp Set - Up, Up & Away (122757) C (122755) W (pg.63)
  • Inks - Tempting Turquoise, (100814), Real Red (103133), Lucky Limeade (122935)  Daffodil Delight (119667), Peach Parfait (119783), Pool Party (122938, Island Indigo (122937). Early Espresso (119670)

Love this new DSP paper called: Flirtatious Specialty, it also comes with this laser cut doily as you can see in the photos above and below. Not only 1 doily, but 2 12x12 sheets of doilies to use. To get this look, I cut a 2" circle in Island Indigo cardstock and than applied it on top of the doily along with the different layers from the stamp set. The Paper Players Challenge #55 - Color Challenge with Flower Fest

It's Sunday and a new challenge at The Paper Players website. This week they are having a color challenge PP55 from Lesley. You can you any product, the goal is to have fun, so if you would like to join in the fun go to their website by clicking here.

I will admit this one was a challenge for me with the colors, but that's exactly what this was a color challenge. At the end, I liked the color combo. It always amazes me how I like the combo afterwards, so give it a try.....here is mine below.

I'm still in the flower mood it seems, this time, I used the stamp set called: Flower Fest which is one of my favorites along with Subtles DSP. I added little flowers at the bottom using the Itty Bitty shape punches and than used White Uniball Signo Gel Pen to add the dots in.

For the flower, I used white embossing power and stamped the image on Grey cardstock and punched it out using the 2 3/8" scallop punch. Than, I took the stamp image again and embossed it using Baja Breeze cardstock. Finally, I took the rose image and embossed it using Poppy Parade.

Yes, I did use stampin dimensionals under the poppy parade rose and under the Baja Breeze rose. For the center, I used Crumb Cake and poppy parade which I punched out using the Eyelet Border Punch and added some Basic Pearls to top it off. Sentiment was from the one of the new hostess sets called: Happiest Birthday Wishes. Hope you enjoy!! Pin It

PPA101 - Celebrity Color Challenge - Summertime Blues

Aren't these colors beautiful together? The Pals Paper Arts is having their weekly challenge called PPA101 Summertime Blues with celebrity guest artist Lesley Croghan who created a beautiful card along with the rest of the design team to get you started. They are all very talented designers.

If you would like to play along, go their website by clicking here. It's always fun to join in.

Here is my card

I was excited to get started on this card, so I put it in my head the color challenge and after I finished the card, I went back to see the color challenge again and realized it said, "Not Quite Navy", while I focused on "Night of Navy", but other than that I managed to get the other colors right.

I used an older Mojo Monday sketch, week 175 as my inspiration to create this card.

So fun to work with this die called: Fun Flower, you can use one, two, or all of the flowers on this set. For the Flower, I used: Night of Navy, Marina Mist, and Bashful Blue. Also, I used a sponge dauber using Marina Mist Ink to add a little color around each flower.

For the sentiment, I used Night of Navy Ink and the stamp set called: Fabulous Phrases and added 2 basic rhinestones on each side of the sentiment. DSP pack was from the Subtles Patterned Series Paper Stack.

As always, feel free to email me if you have any questions on how I did something or what I used. Hope you Enjoy!!
